Anyone in the Floral industry, Photography industry or Wedding industry for that matter is feeling the heat of wedding season as it sweeps over us. It’s a busy and exciting time for many and as we navigate all the blush, gold and ivory I wanted to throw back to an exceptional wedding last November I shot with my second shooter and dear friend Tina Vidak, a fellow Acad student . This wedding was wonderfully out of the ordinary - our favorite! It features fair trade florals and so so much beautiful lush greenery, gold animal masks, candelabras, and of course lots of love. The florals were done by Willow & Whimsy (in fact the bride Jessica and her Husband own the floral shop) and It was styled by the ever so talented J’adore Decor!

I’m very excited to announce that this Sunday afternoon I will be attending my first ever High Tea fundraiser! A wonderful Charity in Calgary with over 20 years experience creating and providing social and recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities is holding an Alice and Wonderland High Tea event. The charity is called Between Friends and funds raised will support Between Friends ongoing initiative to increase our community’s awareness, positive attitudes, and sensitivity towards our fellow citizens with disabilities.
There will be a slient auciton (for which I’ve donated some work for), loads of fun afternoon activities inspired by 19th century garden parties, and of course tea. Tickets are still for sale if you are interested in attending, it’s a very worthwhile charity to be supporting, please take a look at their website to read about all the wonderful work they do!
Last week we finished set-up for my first ever show at the Arts Commons Building (formerly known as the Epcor Centre). I’m one of three artists who were chosen to exhibit work in the Window Galleries (across from the Max Bell theatre) for the months of April, May and June!
I’m showing a select few of the portraits from a collection of images in France in early 2014. You can get a little sneak peek by checking out these snaps from the set-up.
There will be an opening reception on Thursday May 14th from 5-8 pm in the Upper Centre Court of the Arts Commons (formerly The Epcor Centre) building. There will be light refreshments, a white and red wine tonnie bar and the YYC JAZZ kid trio will be playing some tasty jazz jams from 630-730pm
The reception is of course open to the public, and I won’t be the only Artist in attendance. Other visual delights can be found in the Ledge Gallery (Larissa Tiggelers), Window Galleries (Sharon Hogg, Myself, and Ryan Puchalski), Lightbox Studio (Jillian Fleck), Gallery of Alberta Media Arts (Kiarra Albina, Neal Moignard, Heather Kai Smith, Carl Spencer and Asher Cummings) and Tiny Gallery (Don Mabie)
It’s sure to be a lovely event, and I am feeling so wonderfully excited to have a chance to share some of my work in print along side so many wonderful Artists.
